What is Keto?

Simplistically, "Keto", short for Ketogenic, is a way of eating that switches your body back to burning fat for fuel instead of the inferior fuel source of glucose. This lifestyle is best accomplished by focusing your dietary intake around Fats and Protein, while recognizing and adhering to a minimalistic intake of Carbohydrates. Following this protocol allows your body to achieve a state of nutritional Ketosis. 

Why Keto?

 The ketogenic lifestyle is how we were born into this world. All infants, from conception to birth, are born in a nutritional ketogenic state. That means keto is our factory default setting. Resorting back to a ketogenic eating protocol allows your body to function at its optimal and most efficient state.  Honestly, of all the benefits of keto, weight loss is the least amazing. Though its popularity as of late has been centered around weight loss, it is very important to realize nutritional Ketosis allows your body to function in its most efficient state. Not only does this allow your body to more efficiently utilize each and every nutrient  you ingest, but it also allows your body to repair, recover, and function in such a manner that your overall homeostasis improves systemically.   You can begin the keto lifestyle looking forward to increased energy and brain function, increased deep sleep, decreased inflammation, improved neurological function, and even increased hormone regulation. The ketogenic diet has also been proven to cure diseases such as Type 1 and 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer,  and epilepsy to name a few.

Don't allow the recent popularity of the keto lifestyle set you up for failure. Many may preach different types of keto, but few truly understand the practical alongside the scientific application of nutritional ketosis thoroughly. Everyone has an opinion on what works best.
